Cultural Diplomacy in Action: Building Bridges Across Europe
The Cultural Diplomacy within Erasmus+ project was carried out in two impactful phases across Greece, beginning in Athens and continuing in Nea Kallikrateia. Organized in partnership with Horizon for Youth, this initiative created a meaningful platform for young people from diverse countries to come together and explore the role of cultural diplomacy in today’s interconnected world.
Strengthening Partnerships and Youth Leadership
This collaboration marked an important milestone between organizations, reinforcing a long-standing partnership and shared vision. The project placed a strong emphasis on empowering young women leaders, encouraging active participation, leadership development, and international cooperation.
Participants engaged in discussions and activities that highlighted how cultural diplomacy can foster peace, understanding, and collaboration between nations.
Exploring Cultural Heritage in Athens
The first phase in Athens offered participants an immersive cultural experience. They visited iconic landmarks such as the Greek Parliament, the Acropolis, and the National Theatre, gaining valuable insights into Greece’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
One of the highlights was the visit to the National Greek Theatre, where participants explored the evolution of theatre from ancient times to the modern era. These experiences deepened their appreciation of cultural heritage and its role in shaping societies.
Cultural Exchange and Representation
Participants actively contributed to intercultural exchange through cultural presentations and activities. A special Turkish cultural night showcased traditional music, dance, and cuisine, creating a vibrant atmosphere of mutual understanding and respect.
In addition, participants took part in a study case activity representing UNESCO, where they explored the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage and discussed the role of non-governmental organizations in strengthening communities.
Learning Through Dialogue and Experience
Throughout the project, participants engaged in meaningful discussions about global cultural contributions and how different societies influence one another. These conversations highlighted the importance of diversity and collaboration in building stronger, more inclusive communities.
The interactive and non-formal learning approach allowed participants to reflect, share ideas, and develop a deeper understanding of cultural diplomacy.
Second Phase in Nea Kallikrateia
The second phase of the project continued in Nea Kallikrateia and Thessaloniki, where participants further strengthened their connections and built lasting friendships. This phase focused on deepening collaboration, sharing experiences, and continuing the exploration of cultural diplomacy in a more community-based setting.
The experience reinforced the idea that cultural connections go beyond borders, creating a sense of unity and shared identity among participants.
The Cultural Diplomacy within Erasmus+ project successfully brought together young people from different cultures to learn, collaborate, and grow. Through its two phases in Athens and Nea Kallikrateia, the project promoted intercultural dialogue, cultural heritage awareness, and youth leadership.
It not only strengthened international partnerships but also inspired participants to become active contributors to a more culturally connected and understanding world.
